Lunch

12:00 – 1:15  What's New in ADO.NET 2.0

ADO.NET 2.0 provides new features for building data-driven websites and smart client applications.  In this session, we'll look at the new features in ADO.NET 2.0 and how they are used with SQL Server 2005.  We'll go over DataSets and Multiple Active ResultSets and look at DataBinding and Caching in ADO.NET.

1:30 – 2:45  Using XML in SQL Server 2005

SQL Server 2005 now has native support for XML for improved performance and capabilities.  The native XML datatype can be applied to columns, variables and parameters.  New XML indexes and support for XQuery allow queries to be executed across XML without diminishing performance.  We'll look at how to use XML with SQL Server 2005.

3:00 – 4:15  Developing for the SQL CLR

This session covers using managed code to implement complex logic calculations inside SQL Server 2005.  Using your favorite .NET language, you can create stored procedures, functions, triggers and even custom datatypes.  We'll discuss how and when to use managed code inside SQL Server.

4:30 – 5:00  Question & Answer
